Thomas M "Tom" Stock

Thomas M. (Tom) Stock, 55, of L.I.T.H. passed away Monday, March 23, 2015. He was born November 28, 1959 in Libertyville the son of William and Isabella (Welch) Stock. Tom spent his entire working career at Northwestern Mutual where he was a trusted advisor to so many clients. He was a devoted Catholic and parishioner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntley where he served as a lay minister, reader, religious education teacher and fundraiser organizer. Tom was an ardent volunteer of his time, notably with the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce, LITH Rotary Club, LITH Zoning Board, and as a Salvation Army bell ringer. Tom relished the opportunities to spend time with his immediate and extended family which included his brother and sister in-laws and 27 nieces and nephews who all adored him. In his spare time, Tom taught himself to play the guitar and was a member of the rock n' roll cover band No Left Turn. Tom was an inspiration to his family and friends prior to and during his battle with lung cancer. He was often heard saying "you must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end- which you can never afford to lose-with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be" (Admiral James Stockdale). Tom would say that you can learn something from everyone you meet which is why you only needed to meet Tom once to consider him a friend. He will be deeply missed by all. Tom was the beloved husband and best friend to his one and only love of 30 yrs, Julie Ann (O'Malley); devoted father to Caitlin (Jon) Thorton, Jillian Stock and Daniel Stock; loving brother to William and Richard Stock. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Herbert Stock; and niece, Jamie Stock. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, March 31 at 10:30 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Rd, Huntley. Visitation will Monday, March 30 from 3 to 8 pm at St. Mary's Church and prior to the mass on Tues. from 9:30 to 10:30 am. In Lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be directed to the Stock Family Educational Fund, % Chase Bank, 1000 S. Randall Rd, Algonquin, IL 60102.
