David Chester Rominski

David Chester Rominski, 72, of Lanark, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and sons at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa on September 16, 2021. He was born on July 7, 1949, to parents Theodore Rominski and Fay (Suter)Schultz in Ashland, WI. He graduated from John Edwards High School, Port Edwards, WI in 1968. He was drafted into the Marines on June 19, 1969 and served in Vietnam. He returned home to marry his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Dawn Sailer on February 20, 1971, in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. They built a life together in Nekoosa, WI raising their two sons, David and Douglas. He owned 4D Archery, where he first instilled the love of hunting into his boys. He worked at Port Edwards mill from 1968-2008. When the mill closed, he moved to Lanark, IL and took a job at ADM as a Senior Project Planner until his retirement in 2017. Dave was a loving family man who enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was an avid crappie fisherman and loved taking family and friends “catching”. He also loved every facet of deer hunting with his boys. The fishing and hunting stories are numerous. Dave is survived by his wife, Dawn; his sons, David (Margaret) Rominski, and Douglas (Karen) Rominski; grandchildren, Arianna (Josh) Dulany, Kolton, Dylan, Kalena, and Diesel Rominski; greatgrandchild, Travis Dulany; his mother, Fay Schultz; his siblings, Sally Tokuda, Patrick (Rhonda) Rominski, Sue (Randy) Bender; sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane Sailer, Kevin (Linda) Sailer, Beverly (David) Ghiloni, Michael (Barb) Sailer, Eugene (Kathy) Sailer; and many nieces and nephews; and his very special dog, Daisy. Preceded in death by his father, Theodore Rominski; father-in-law, Earl Sailer; and mother-in-law, Nancy Sailer. Visitation is from 11am to 1 pm on Friday, September 24th (Camouflage or Blaze orange attire preferred.) Sacred Heart Parish, 711 Prospect Avenue, Nekoosa, WI. Funeral Mass at 1pm. Military funeral honors and luncheon to follow. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Plumtree Lodge in Lake Carroll, IL on Sunday, September 26th from 1pm to 3pm. In Lieu of Flowers a donation in David’s name can be made to Lake Carroll Fishing Club, 3-200 Association Dr. Lake Carroll, IL 61046.
