Doris R. Marsh

Doris R. Marsh, 85, of Huntley, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Loves Park. She was born Nov. 20, 1936, in Elgin the daughter of Henry and Irene (Larson) Schramm. Doris was a 1955 graduate of Elgin High School and enjoyed dancing, bowling, and met Jim Marsh roller skating. They were married on June 13, 1955, in El Paso, TX while Jim was stationed at Fort Bliss. They lived in Lawton, OK in 1956 while Jim was at Fort Sill. They enjoyed riding Jim’s Harley Davidson motorcycle during this time. In 1956, they moved to their farm in Huntley, IL and Doris would spend the next 65+ years living on and managing their family farm, the last 34 years after Jim’s passing. She also worked for Molding Automation for several years, starting in 1988. Doris was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Union. She was a member of the McHenry Historical Society and the Huntley Historical Society, serving on their board for several years. Doris loved showing her antiques at the county fair, bowling into her 80’s, and attending her grandchildren’s events were some of her favorite things. Making cakes for every grandchild’s event was her passion for 50 years. She will be deeply missed by all. She is survived by her five children, Lee (Pat) Marsh, Ronald Marsh, James (Julie) Marsh, Cheryl (Jeff) Halat, and Connie Marsh; eleven grandchildren, Jenna Marsh (Denny Carter), Jessica (Colby) Brown Kelley (Kenny) Vrtis, Amanda Marsh, Rachel Marsh, Lauren Marsh, Benjamin Marsh, Holly Marsh, Jillian (Brant) Smith, Bridget Halat, Mitchell Halat; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Harriet Bradley. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James on Aug. 8, 1987; two brothers, David & Ed; and sister, Velma. Visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 11 from 4 – 8 PM at the James A. O’Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St. in Huntley and will continue on Sat. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 6821 Main St. in Union from 10 until the 11 AM funeral service.
