Eleanor C. Palitsch

Eleanor C. Palitsch, age 84, passed away at Huntley Northwestern Hospital on 4/4/2024. Born Hannalore Christa Kapahnke, she came to The United States of America on the USS Washington from Germany when she was 11 years old in June of 1951. She survived WWII. She traveled on her mother's visa with her two sisters, and this allowed them to be US citizens. Because she was often teased about her name, back in the day, she changed her name to Eleanor Christina Kapahnke, my momma! This woman was a spectacular woman. She was smart and funny and loved everyone...even the bad ones. Needed help? She was there. Needed food? She was there. Needed anything? She was there! Eleanor worked at the Grafton Food Pantry. She was involved with the Huntley Police Academy, C.E.R.T. was also her passion, and she worked at the concerts in the Huntley Square helping cleanup. and was also the caretaker for her Apartment building. Eleanor worked at Roosevelt University, she worked in many different fields along the way, but mostly in offices as a debt collector, a banker, and she worked for Electrolux vacuum cleaner company for so many years. We would go to Buckingham Fountain, which was one of her favorite places, but her very favorite spot in the world was Mount Shasta near Redding, California. This will be her place to be. She raised us 3 young’uns with the help of our family, who lived nearby. She married 4 times in her life changing her last name to: Sahn, Gibbs, Langdon and then Palitsch. She was loved by so many people along the way. She was a hottie growing up...as she is still now...Let's wish her Godspeed on her new journey. God bless and be with you always Momma ~ All my love, Me :) She is survived by her children, Denise Heliotes Izrailov,Ronald Sahn was married to Christina Moses, Arthur Gibbs was married twice 1st: Sandy and then 2nd: he found his soulmate with Sonia Foster, Deborah (nee Gibbs) is married to Paul Godlewski; her grandchildren, Elizabeth, David, Ron Jr., Guinevere, Jordon, Nevaeh, Kaitlyn, Joshua, and Emma; her great grandchildren, Isaiah, Esther, Charlotte (deceased), Aubree, Nikaia; nieces & nephews, Nancy, Steven, Ward, Jeffrey, Brian, Tanya, Nicole, Timothy and Matthew. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Alfons Kapahnke and Mathilda Ana (nee Jetke); her siblings, Ingeborg (nee Kapahnke) was married to John Schmidt (deceased), Ruth (nee Kapahnke) was married to Erle Devins (deceased), Dorothy (nee Kapahnke) (deceased) was Married to Frank Faltum (deceased), Lothar Kapahnke (deceased) was married to Ann Marie (nee Fryar), Christine (nee Kapahnke) was married to Edward Jachimiak (deceased), Marlese (nee Kapahnke) was married to John Hardisty (unknown), Karen (nee Kapahnke) is married to Joseph Frey, Louis Jendry was married to Cheryl Wascher (deceased). Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 14th from noon to 4 pm at the funeral home followed by a service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to the Huntley Lions Club.
