Frieda M. Lamb

Frieda M. Lamb, 86 of Huntley passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born January 30, 1931 in Elgin the daughter of James and Clara (Taylor) Brian. She married Charles Lamb on Sept. 1, 1957 in Sycamore. Mrs. Lamb lived in Huntley, Hebron, and Genoa while growing up, graduating from Genoa High School in 1949. She became a registered nurse after graduating from Sherman Hospital's last Nursing School Class of 1952. Frieda worked as a registered nurse in many locations, including, Sherman Hospital. She worked as a school nurse mainly at District 300 Irving Crown High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree from St. Francis while working full time. Upon her retirement in 1994, she continued to work part time and volunteered at Centegra Hospital. Frieda was a member of the Huntley American Legion Post # 673 Ladies Auxiliary since 1960 and a longtime member of First Congregational Church in Huntley. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with her many friends and family. She will be deeply missed by all. She is survived by her son, Lance (Susan); granddaughters, Jennifer (Dan) Thorn, and Monica Lamb; great granddaughter, Elliette Yvonne Thorn; nieces, Judy Corson, Linda (Don) Lamm, Pam (Brad) Rice, Susan (Jim) Bodenner, Kathy (Bob) Schultz; nephews, William Brian, Dave (Judy) Frohling, Henry (Diane) Hartman, Brian Fabri, Murray (Carol) Brian, Richard Brian, Thomas (Debbie) Brian; stepson, Charles E. Lamb. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 36 years, Charles E. Lamb in 1993; brothers, William, Paul, and Nelson Brian; sisters, Ilene Schroeder, Agnes Frohling, Nancy Hartman, Lois Fabri, and Dorothy Brian. The family would like to send a special thank you to Carolynn and Danielle from Vitas Hospice, her great niece Tina Wikman, the staff from Visiting Angels, the continuous care team from Vitas Hospice, and all of her cherished family and friends who helped her find a peaceful way home! A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 29 at the First Congregational Church, 11628 E. Main St. in Huntley with Rev. Lance Lackore officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 28 from 4 to 8pm at the James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St. in Huntley. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Frieda's name may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
