Kathryn F. Scheuer

Kathryn “Katie” F. Scheuer, 95, of Huntley, formerly of Wood Dale, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, at Highland Oaks in Elgin, surrounded by the love of her children. She was born on October 4, 1930, in Chicago to Andrew and Kathryn (Kavanaugh) Brisch. Katie was the beloved wife of Oswald “Ozzie” Scheuer; loving mother of Bob (Sandy) Scheuer and Kathy Okrzesik; cherished grandmother of Jason (Nicole), Sean (Nikki), Michael (Amy), Danny (Kathryn), and Evan; and devoted great-grandmother of Beckam, Camden, Madison, Aubrey, and Kennedy. She was a dear sister to Pat Helm and Carole (Dave) Krochalk, a fond aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a treasured friend to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her siblings Jeanne Kelly, Andrew Brisch, and Barbara Brisch, as well as her son-in-law, Randy Okrzesik. Katie graduated from Mundelein College in Chicago with a teaching degree and taught middle school in Chicago following her graduation. She met the love of her life—who was the cousin of her best friend, Marge—and they were married at Immaculate Conception Church in Elmhurst before settling in River Grove. Katie devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mother while also serving as a substitute teacher. Later, she worked in the ENT Department at Loyola Medical Center, a role she truly loved. After retiring, Katie and Ozzie moved to Del Webb in Huntley, where they enjoyed traveling, making new friends, and embracing their community. Katie was an active parishioner at St. Mary’s Church, where she delivered Communion to homebound parishioners. An avid reader and crossword enthusiast, she was a woman of deep faith whose kindness and compassion knew no bounds. She had a remarkable gift for seeing the good in everyone she met, lighting up every room with her warm smile and gentle spirit. Katie delighted in the simple pleasures of life and embraced travel with enthusiasm and wonder. Known among her friends as the dependable designated driver, she was always willing to go the extra mile so others could enjoy shopping and lunch together. Above all, Katie’s greatest joy was her family—especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the heart of her life, and she poured her love into every hug, every story, and every cherished memory. Her legacy of love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 12th, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road in Huntley from 9:00 until the 10:00 Memorial Mass of Christian Burial.
