Patricia Ann McMahon

Patricia Ann McMahon of Chana, IL, formerly a longtime resident of Huntley, passed away on February 28, 2022, in the comfort of her home. Born December 28, 1936, to John and Ann Pospisil; loving wife to James for 65 happy years before his passing in 2021. Mother to the late Teresa (Merle) Morrow, Sharon (Mike) Gilbert, James (Rita) McMahon, Julie McMahon, Donna (Gordon) Green, and Daniel McMahon. Pat was a proud and loving grandma (GMA) to 9 grandchildren, but her favorite thing to be called was Gigi to 6 great-grandchildren. Her face would light up with a story or a visit from her grand and great grands alike. Pat was a lover of cultivating new life shown by her 6 children and her passion for vegetable and flower gardening. Jim and Pat were known for their pristine gardens and the house they made a home on Harmony Road. Pat was a master of all things in the kitchen, especially the family Polish favorites, kluskis, and pierogis. She was always quick to throw together an amazing meal at the drop of a hat for family and friends. But don’t bother asking for a recipe because they were all measured by handfuls, pinches, dashes, and to taste not easily mastered by anyone other than her. She loved a big family meal. Pat was known by many for her beautiful hand-crafted rosaries from her own canna and job’s tears plants. Priding herself on the story behind them and successful completion of the family project. Not only did she make beautiful rosaries but would pray her rosary for any just cause including but not limited to grad school applications, swift healing, licensure exams, surgeries, new jobs, sporting events, babies, health, and wellbeing for all her loved ones. Pat was known for her driven work ethic that has been passed down 3 generations and will continue to live on. The McMahon boss has now been deemed to Her good boy of 16 years, Max, who will continue to boss everyone around and bark til he gets what he wants. Pat is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; her brother, John; her daughter, Teresa; and her beloved dog, Molly. Saying her rosary and praying brought her peace and comfort til the end, passing along her faith to the surviving generations. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting monetary donations to St. Mary Church to purchase a gift for the Adoration Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 PM on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Rd. in Huntley. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery. Mass will be live-streamed and can be viewed by going to the O’Connor website to her obituary and clicking on photos and videos, then hit the play arrow for the mass. Visitation will be at the church prior to mass from Noon to 1 PM.
