Betty Ann Rudsinski

February 19, 1922 - April 9, 2018

Betty Ann Rudsinski, 96, of Algonquin completed her journey home to the Lord on April 9, 2018 in McHenry. She was born Feb. 19, 1922 in Huntley the daughter of Gillert and Clara (Weltzien) Frost. Betty was a resident of Huntley and Algonquin almost all her life and married William A. Rudsinski on April 10, 1953. Betty helped her husband with the farm in Algonquin and Volo as well as working at the Woodstock Auto Lite and Union Special in Huntley. She had also been a house cleaner for 35 years. Betty enjoyed raising the Belgian Draft horses with her husband and cherished their time in parades with their horses and show wagon. She also enjoyed dancing at the Blue Moon and bowling. Betty was also an avid Bulls fan, a proud member of the "55 Club", and an excellent baker (especially Christmas cookies). Betty was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Algonquin, the Ladies Aid, and the LWML. At many church dinners, Betty's specialty was mashed potatoes. Betty was present in the moment and reflected that in her being with family, watching birds at her feeders, reading and writing down daily weather, temperatures, sunrise and sunset times and what she had seen that day. Surviving are her children, Barbara (Mitch) Gaskell, Diane (Keith) Celestine, Gary Rudsinski; grandchildren, Steven (Carrie) Swerbenski, James (Janet) Swerbenski, Jean (Alfred) Elarde; 5 great grandchildren, Hannah & Kathy Swerbenski, William, Stephanie & Joseph Freeman; and great-great grandchildren, Isaac Freeman, and Elizabeth Croneberger. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William in 2013; and daughter, Mary J. Smith in 2009. The Funeral Service will be at 11am Wed. April 18 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 300 Jefferson St., Algonquin with Pastor Brian Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Algonquin Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 17 from 4-8pm at the James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St., Huntley and will continue at the church from 10 until the 11am service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to St. Johns Lutheran Church in Algonquin, or to JourneyCare Hospice.
