Carol E. Donahue, 88, of Huntley passed away early Wednesday morning, Nov. 28, 2018 in Woodstock. She was born January 11, 1930 in Ringwood, IL the daughter of Chancey and Myrtle (Wattles) Harrison. She graduated from McHenry High School and attended the U of I and NIU. Carol married Wayne Donahue at St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntley on Nov. 11, 1950. She was employed as a librarian in District #200 at Dean St. school, and McHenry County College. Mrs. Donahue was a member of Phi Epsilon Omicron, the American Legion Auxiliary, Retired Teachers of McHenry Co., McHenry Co. Historical Society, and the Crystal Lake Community Band. A resident of Huntley for 68 years, Carol was an active volunteer for many community events. She was also passionate about preserving Huntley and McHenry County history. Surviving are her children, Frances (Gary) Borhart of Illinois City, and Patrick (Donna) Donahue of Bartlett; grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Smerud, Joelle (Steve Sidorek) Borhart, Luke Borhart, Benjamin (Jennifer) Borhart, Kevin (Alison) Donahue, and Dustin Donahue (Rachel Beetz); great-grandchildren, Maggie, Henry, and Reid Smerud, Sean, and Caroline Sidorek, Brody and Logan Donahue; and step-great-grandchildren, Victor Alexander, and Eric Tamborini; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne on Nov. 17, 2015; three sons, Paul, Philip, and Mark; brother, Frank Harrison; and sisters, Helen Marlowe, and Amy Brener. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am on Monday, Dec. 3 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Rd., Huntley. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to services at the church from 9-10. A Memorial is established at the Huntley Library.
