James S. "Jimmy" Zachar

June 26, 1948 - May 21, 2017

James ("Jimmy") S. Zachar, 68, of Huntley, formerly of Chicago passed away May 21, 2017 at his beloved home. He was born in Chicago in 1948 the son of the late Stanley and Barbara (Krughoff) Zachar. Jimmy was a truck driver and specialty hauling contractor in the Chicago area. He loved to tinker, and have garage sales with his many "found treasures". He proudly served in the US Military as an Army soldier in the Vietnam War where he was decorated with three honorary service medals. Jimmy was an avid fisherman and trustworthy man. He was amazing fun and funny, he knew and told all the good jokes. Everyone who spent time with Jimmy loved him. He had a heart of gold, and was always there to lend a helping hand. A devoted loving husband, stepdad, son, brother, and especially friend who will be missed by so many! Surviving are his loving wife of 38 years, Roberta M. St. Clair; stepchildren, Susan Kuhlman, Dennis (Kim) MacShane, Therese (Jack) Caveney, MaryKay MacShane, Christopher (Diane) MacShane; 12 step grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; brothers, Gene (Nancy), and William. He was preceded in death by his parents; and stepson William MacShane; step granddaughter, Natalie MacShane. A Memorial Service will be beginning at 10:00 am Wed., May 31, 2017, with Military honors at 10:30 at the Abraham National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, masses in his name would be appreciated at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Rd., Huntley, IL 60142, Or a donation to any American Veteran Association in his honor as he was a US Army hero.
