Joan Dolores Krueger

Joan Dolores Krueger, 85, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015 in Huntley Illinois. She was born on February 3, 1930 on the west side of Chicago, to Della and Jim Sweeney. Along with her four siblings, Joan grew up in a very Irish Catholic family. She graduated from Providence high school and attended a year of college at Mundelein College. Joan met Bob Krueger In 1948 at a dance (even though Bob didn't dance...), and their relationship blossomed, resulting in their marriage in 1950. They added three kids, Nancy, Bobby and Diann to the baby boomers generation. Joan and Bob were married for 52 years, until Bob's passing in 2002. Their relationship was marked by values, respect and love, and a mutual joy of fun and laughter. While Bob was an "outdoor guy", Joan was an "indoor Gal", who loved ceramics, shopping, going to lunch with friends, and having special "Sunday family dinners". In later years Joan loved to travel with friends, and she and Bob went everywhere from Scotland to Alaska, to Australia and back. She enjoyed reading, musicals and plays, as well. One of the most difficult events of Joan's life was the passing of her daughter Diann Christensen, in 2012. It broke her heart. Joan was a strong, passionate woman with a great sense of humor. Her kindness and Compassion were felt all through the Krueger, Sweeney, Furlong and Ferris families. Even in her last year, Joan made those around her smile, with her charm and humor. Joan was precious to us all, and we will miss her. Joan is survived by her children, Nancy May and Bob Krueger; her brother, Tom Sweeney; her 7 grandchildren, Jenny Gufford, Amy Guzik, Tyler Christensen, and Chris, Kevin, Justin and Scott Krueger; and her 3 great-grandchildren, Zack Gufford, Karter Rose Anderson and Rhett Krueger. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tues., May 19 at 10 am at St. Mary Church, 10307 Dundee Rd, Huntley. Visitation is on Monday, May 18 at James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St, Huntley, from 4-7 PM and will continue on Tues. at church prior to the mass from 9 - 10am.
