Nancy A. Eckert, 76, of Sun City Huntley and formerly of Rolling Meadows passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born October 7, 1936 in Oak Park the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Swords) Hopkins. Nancy took great pride in the fact that she single handedly raised her five children. She loved flowers, gardening and music. She was an avid walker at the Lodge in Sun City. Her greatest treasure was spending time with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by her loving children; Donna Hofmann of Schaumburg, Frank (Barb) Eckert of Mesa, AZ, John (Carolyn) Eckert of Aurora, Nancy (Joe) Nischbach of Geneva and Sue (Dave) Richards of Lake Zurich, her daughter in law Rosalinda Eckert of Chandler, AZ, 11 grandchildren; Katie (Dan) Dickinson, Jake, Keith, Lindsay, Ethan, Tara, Nicole, Alison, Zachary, Sarah and Joey, her great grandson Jacob and her dear brother Gerald Hopkins. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at NE Illinois Hospice and Palliative care as well as Griswold Home Care. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Eckert, two granddaughters Heather and Jennifer and a brother Frank Hopkins. Memorial visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 Friday, March 8, 2013 at the James A. O'Connor Funeral Home 11603 E. Main St., Huntley. The Memorial Mass will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 9 at St. Mary Catholic Church 10307 Dundee/Huntley Rd., Huntley. There will be a visitation at church on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to the American Heart Association.
