Robert G. Burnquist, 75, of Pingree Grove, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. He was born February 16, 1946, in Chicago the son of Clayde and Hazel (Wilcox) Burnquist. He was a proud Army Veteran of the Vietnam war serving from 1964 to 1967. Robert worked as an engineer for many years at the Chicago Athletic Association. “Whale”, as his friends knew him, loved softball and was the proudest to have played for Murders Row and The Playboys. He also loved fishing with his family and friends who he loved spending time with and always would ask “Where’s the Cake?” He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Suzan; children, Yvonne (Abba) Sorby, Bobbi Burnquist, Kevin (Renee) Burnquist; grandchildren, Billy (Brianna), Kaitlyn, Olivia, Cory, Baily, C.J. (Alex), Josh, and Jake; and great=granddaughter, Sophie. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clyde, Ronald, and Earl; and sister, Mary. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 7 from 1 to 4 PM at the James A. O’Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St., Huntley with Military Honors at 4 PM. Masks and Social distancing will be required.
