Viola A. Zimmerman

Viola Augusta Zimmerman, 96, of Huntley passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 8, 2015 peacefully at her home. She was born November 9, 1918, in Union, the daughter of Ernest and Minnie (Giertz) Kolberg. On April 13, 1940 in Woodstock she married Norm Zimmerman and they lived in Huntley since 1945. She was the co-owner and bookkeeper of D & Z Transfer of Huntley for 60 years. Viola was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Huntley. Viola was a faithful Chicago Cubs, Bears and Bulls fan,she enjoyed golfing, bowling, pinochle and bingo. Viola was also very artistic, painting and doing ceramics. She was loved by her family and will be deeply missed by all. She was survived by her five children, Gerald (Marilyn), Richard (Sheila), Sandra (Robert) Zanzig, Randy (Lynn), Pamela (Gary) Gallaugher; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; and sister Ruth Kahl. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 66 years, Norm on Oct 22, 2006; brothers, Ervin and Melvin Kolberg; sisters, Elma Buchte, Grace Schauer, Florence Bauman, Mildred Diedrick, and Irene Wirsing. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 11008 N Church St, Huntley with the Rev. Robert Hoffman officiating. Burial will be at the McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery in Woodstock. Visitation will be on Wed, Feb 11 from 4 to 8 pm at the James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main Street, Huntley and will continue on Thursday at the church from 10 to 11 am. Memorials in her name may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
