Beverly B. "Bev" Kahl

Beverly B. “Bev” Kahl, of Huntley, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Northwestern Huntley Hospital. She was born March 15, 1941, in Elgin, the daughter of Arthur F. and Lucille B (Bakley) Kahl. She is survived by her children, Rebecca (Ronald) Terry, and Jamie (Jessica) Sweeney; six grandchildren, Darby (fiancé, Jack Quinlan) Terry, Riley Terry, Jamie (fiancé, Walid Alzein) Terry, Wesley Terry, Evan Sweeney, and Ryan Sweeney; brothers & sisters, Fern (Paul) Ziller, Violet (Ron) Mihevc, Arthur “Hoppy” Kahl, and Russell “Joe” (Bonnie) Kahl; and many extended family and friends She is preceded in death by her parents; and sister-in-law, Pam Kahl. Visitation will be on Monday, July 27th at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 932 S. McHenry Ave. in Crystal Lake from 10 am until the 11 am service. Burial will follow in the Huntley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to Prince of Peace church. Bev, a devout Christian, emphasized saying your prayers every night. Much of Bev’s life was spent in service to her community. She served the church by playing organ for 70 years. She aided kindergarten classes at Huntley Elementary. She worked at Jewel for 30 years. Anything Bev had, she shared. Bev’s children recall times when she would invite strangers’ kids to her pool, who otherwise would have been left out. At the sight of a homeless person, Bev would empty her wallet, despite her own financial situation. Bev’s grandchildren were the light of her life. She always had the sugariest cereals, a freezer full of ice cream, and Werther’s in her purse. She drove all of her grandchildren to confirmation classes and helped them grow in their faith. In her senior years, Bev became an avid Blackhawks and Bulls fan. She could often be found sitting in her rocker reading a Western novel or playing on her Ipad. The only stress Beverly ever caused anyone was when she forgot her computer passwords and buried the paper with the correct password under several other papers with incorrect passwords. Bev loved to travel. She made half a dozen trips to Ireland throughout her life. She passed her drivers test at 85 so she could continue driving to get “free” coffee at Nancy’s. Bev loved her freedom. More than anything, she loved her family and friends. She made her love obvious with words and actions. We love her and will miss her dearly.
