Janice Arlene Cramer-Batuyong

Janice Arlene Cramer Batuyong, 80, of Suwanee, Georgia, went to her Heavenly home, Tuesday, April 14, 2026, surrounded by her family, at Magnolia Senior Care Center under hospice care. Jan, as family and friends called her, was born May 29, 1945, to John and Kathleen (Zierk) Cramer, third of seven daughters, in Chicago, Illinois. She was Baptized and Confirmed in the Catholic Church at Our Lady of Mercy and attended Our Lady of Mercy grammar school, graduating from 8th grade in June,1959. She then attended the Immaculata High School, graduating in June 1963. During her high school years, Jan learned how to play the accordion, and did it well. Following high school, Jan worked as a secretary for Babcock and Wilcox Boiler Company in downtown Chicago until February 1966. On February 26, 1966, Jan married and from that union a daughter, Cheryl Lynn, was born on April 25, 1969, and son, Christopher Michael, born March 1972. Christopher died shortly after birth, interred at Fort Riley, Kansas cemetery. Jan enjoyed living in many places, Chicago, Illinois; Ft. Riley Kansas; Oberammergau, Germany; Panama; Fort Benning Georgia; Hoffman Estates, Illinois; Huntley, Illinois; and Suwanee, Georgia. Her dream was to travel to Ireland to visit the country her maternal grandmother was born. She truly enjoyed her time in Germany and Panama. Family was most important. Her daughter, Cheri and son-in-law, Steve, were the light of her life and cherished deeply. Jan’s great pride and joy were her three grandchildren, Nina, Luke and Lily. She spoke highly of them to whomever listened. Jan enjoyed many evening outings with her two sisters, Ginger and Jerri, of pizza, shopping and movies over the years, living in Hoffman Estates. Making snow angels in the middle of a snowstorm, in the Woodfield Shopping Mall parking lot, is a fond memory her sisters share with us. Jan’s faith provided her with great strength throughout her life during challenges and joy. She would always say “read the red words” when talking about confusion as to what was right. The “red words”, as you will see in the Bible, were spoken by Jesus in the Gospels and printed in red. Jan’s inner strength shined when faced with difficulties. Regardless of those difficulties, she would express a positive attitude with an uplifting voice. She seldom complained even when struggling with serious health issues. Jan was a proud and special lady who will be cherished and remembered by her family and friends who loved her dearly. Jan is survived by her daughter Cheri Hardin and son-in-law, Steve, Suwanee, GA; Grandchildren: Nina Hardin, Atlanta, GA, Luke Hardin, Chattanooga, TN, and Lily Hardin, Suwanee, GA. Sisters: Jacquelyn Cramer, BVM; Jill Draves, Husband, Wade; Jo Freier, Husband Garry; and Jerri Veltri; Brother-in-law, Jon Lis; Cousin, Gail Kruse, Husband Fred; Dear Friend, Joanne Nykaza, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Kathleen Cramer; Son, Christopher Michael in infancy; Sisters: Jennifer Cramer Lis, and Joan Cramer Blanchard; Brother-in-law, Jim Veltri, Brother-in-law, Ernie Blanchard; paternal and maternal grandparents and Aunts and Uncles. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 8th, 2026 at James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E Main St. Huntley IL, from 10am to 11am. Immediately following Burial will be held at St. James Sag Bridge Cemetery, 10600 S Archer Road Lemont, IL 60439 for committal services.
