Laurence "Larry" K. Ossler Sr.

Laurence “Larry” K. Ossler Sr., 86, passed away on Monday, August 17th, 2026, at JourneyCare in Barrington, Illinois. He was the son of John and Marguerite (Christoffel) Ossler. He married Judy Christoff, in Chicago IL, on October 28th, 1967. Larry was a devoted husband, loving father, and a beloved uncle and friend to many. He shared his passion for sports—especially the Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks—with everyone around him, creating countless memories through the teams he loved. A proud patriot, he served his nation with quiet strength and unwavering integrity during his time in the United States Army where he travelled around the world working in the Army Security Agency during the cold war era. Later, his career as an aerospace quality engineer reflected his remarkable attention to detail, precision, and commitment to excellence. Whether inspecting parts destined for the landing gear of naval aircraft or approving the quality of suppliers whose components would ultimately be used on the wings of the space shuttle, Larry approached every task with purpose and care. Beyond his professional achievements, Larry was a man who genuinely loved people. His warm smile, sincere interest in others, and ability to find the good in any situation inspired everyone he met. He believed deeply in lifting others up, and his positive outlook was a steady light in both calm and storm. He also carried a wonderful sense of humor throughout his life — even in his final days, he found ways to make others laugh, joking about having “alien DNA” and bringing levity to moments that needed it most. A man of deep Catholic faith, Larry lived his beliefs daily—through acts of compassion, steadfast prayer, and years of service to his parish, where he served faithfully as an usher. His faith was not only a source of strength for himself but a gift he shared generously. Even in his later days, when illness limited his physical abilities, he continued to pray daily for his family and friends. He modelled the virtues of gratitude and love for his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Judy; his children, Larry (Juliann) Ossler and Karen (Chip) Seraphine; his grandchildren, Andrew, Benjamin, Jacob, Annaliese Ossler, Ryan and Elena Serephine; his sister, Bonnie Gardeck; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Lauren; and his siblings, John, Robert, Russell, Ralph, Marilyn, Arlene, Audrey, Diane; and his stillborn twin brother Barry. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21st, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee rd., in Huntley until the 2:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Huntley, Illinois.
