Marilyn M. Borhart

Marilyn M. Borhart, 92, of Huntley passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023 (George’s Birthday), at Florence Nursing Home in Marengo. Born at home in Dundee September 14, 1930, she was the daughter of Chris and Clara (Gloede) Miller. She graduated with high honors in 1948 from Dundee Community High School. Marilyn met George H. Borhart while dancing at the Blue Moon, and later they married at Dundee Methodist Church on April 21, 1950. As one of the oldest members of Trinity Lutheran Church Huntley, she had a deep Christian faith and strong will. Marilyn lived in the same Huntley farmhouse for over 70 years and was primarily a homemaker until George passed. As a busy farmwife, she prepared meals for her family and farmworkers. She worked at Roberts Insurance and then Borhart Spellmeyer & Company until age 83. Marilyn loved bowling, dancing, playing cards, traveling, and baking. Annually, she made dozens of batches of peanut brittle. She decorated wedding, birthday and special occasion cakes for family and friends. But most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her children, Deb Borhart of Palatine; Len (Anne Michelsen) Borhart of Huntley; and Doug (Lori Kearns) Borhart of Marengo; grandchildren, Megan Borhart, Erin (Paul) Mayer, Adam (Laura) Borhart, Ellen (Brittany) Borhart; great-grandchildren, Henry, George, Stan, Liza, Abel, Mason, Hutch, and Della; sister, Carol (Dave) Bahr; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; brother, Dave (June) Miller; sister, Betty (Ab) Tinberg; and infant brother, Jimmy. The family is appreciative of the loving care provided by Florence Nursing Home and JourneyCare. Funeral Services: Saturday, March 18 at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 11008 Church St. Huntley. Burial will follow in the Huntley Cemetery. Visitation: Friday, March 17 from 4 to 7 PM at James A. O’Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St. Huntley and will continue Sat. at the church on Saturday from 10 to 11 AM. Memorials in her name may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church in Huntley or Florence Nursing Home Activity Department.
