SueCarol "Susie" Hayslett

SueCarol “Susie” Hayslett, 86, of Huntley, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born October 16, 1936, in Milwaukee, WI the daughter of Carleton and Susan (Wahl) Miller. She married Russell C. Hayslett, Jr on January 14, 1961, in Milwaukee, WI. Susie worked for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for 27 years. She began as a secretary at the Milwaukee Mitchell Airport field office. After the birth of her first two sons, she left the FAA to devote her time to raising her four children. While her children were in school, Susie worked as a lunchroom aide in an elementary school where she frequently bought lunches for students in need. Both students and school staff adored her. Eventually, Susie returned to the FAA and worked as an administrative assistant in the Great Lakes Regional Office in Des Plaines, IL and was able to work in the same building as her beloved husband Russ. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Huntley, Il. She enjoyed attending mass and having masses said for those in need. She was an avid supporter of animal rights and frequently made donations to local animal shelters. She also gave money to many other charities supporting our veterans, animal rescue efforts, and children in need around the world. Susie also volunteered at Sherman Hospital, danced in the Sun City Strutters Dance Club, and over the years, was also a great mom to many Yorkshire Terrier dogs, her favorite breed. She was a kind, loving, and giving person. She is survived by her children, Russell (Robert Cramer) Hayslett, Randy (Lisa) Hayslett, Susan Hayslett, Robert “Rob” Hayslett; grandchildren, Brady, Rylee, Trevor, and Kyla. She is preceded by her parents; husband, Russ on Sept. 7, 2006; brothers, Pat, Jimmy, and Jerry; and sisters, Margie, & Darleen. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 PM on Friday, June 2 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Ave. in Huntley. Visitation will be prior to mass at the church from 12 – 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to masses at St. Mary Church or the Animal House Shelter, 13005 Ernesti Rd., Huntley, IL 60142.
